GREAT PLAINS AUDIO - GPA 515-8G - Difference manufacturing

    Hello,
A speaker that I greatly appreciate this home manufacturer and follows in the tradition ALTEC, I buy in the last few years 3 pairs, the closer exchange some details.

    The 2006 models:
    -gray frame
    -0.25 inch spade type terminals
    -decompression from the front
    http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ny3_3iYABC...006%2Bface.JPG
    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Z3sqmhBtim...2006%2Bdos.JPG

    Models 2010:
    -black chassis
    -a piston terminal
    -decompression from the front
    http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D43jYDhE45...010%2Bface.JPG
    http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ET04Hq8kLC...2010%2Bdos.JPG

    Models 2011:
    -black chassis
    -a piston terminal
    -decompression from the back
    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8uy0XQAlRF...011%2Bface.JPG
    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6x89rtRJJY...2011%2Bdos.JPG

Surely the vagaries of mass production or some form of standardization in relation to other models from this manufacturer.

Just appears that the venting has changed to rear.

I believe this change was made because some golden ears complained that they could hear "chuffing" from the vent at VLF in some applications. It'd be interesting to see some graphic analysis of the two different venting methods, if "chuffing" is audible it should certainly be measurable.

Is that not the same simple variation that the older "LF" versions of a given series incorporated?

For model 2011, Bill had me send a mail to warn me of a supply problem on some parts to manufacture the 515.

    Hi,
My project with the purchase of GPA 515 is to produce double boxes, now with the difference of look that might not be beautiful.
The first pair was purchased in early 2010, the second order was delivered late 2010 and early 2011 but has continued supply problems.

With 2 speakers per box the grey and black rims will clash. I like double boxes They are great for small PA and give you a lot of SPL.Best to put a permanent grill in front.
